The Memorandum of Association (MoA) on the establishment of the BIMSTEC Centre on Weather and Climate (BCWC) was signed on 04 March 2014 during the Third BIMSTEC Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, and the Centre is located in the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.
The First Meeting of the Governing Board and Scientific Advisory Council of the BIMSTEC Centre on Weather and Climate was held in New Delhi, India, on 30 July 2018.
Objectives of the Centre:
-Promote and encourage cooperation between BIMSTEC member countries in identified areas of fundamental and applied scientific research in weather prediction and climate modelling.
-Promote scientific capacity building in weather and climate research.
-Encourage and assist the publication of important results of research obtained within the framework of the BIMSTEC cooperation on weather and climate.
