Director (Environment and Climate Change)
Tshewang Dorji T, a Foreign Service Officer, joined the BIMSTEC Secretariat on 02 February 2023 as the third Director from Bhutan.
In his 18 years of service as a civil servant in Bhutan, he has served in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment(erstwhile Ministry of Ministry of Economic Affairs) from 2005-2019 and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade from 2019-2022.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, he has served as the Chief of Passport and Consular Service Divisions, Department of Protocol and Consular Affairs and as the Offtg. Chief of Protocol.
While in the Ministry of Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, he has served as the National Implementation Unit Coordinator for the Enhanced Integrated Framework and as the Dy. Chief Trade Officer at the Department of Trade. He has also worked at the World Trade Organization, Switzerland in 2011.
He has represented Bhutan on delegations to various trade, investment and other relevant meetings and fora at the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.
His academic credentials include Masters Degree in International and Development Economics from Australian National University, Diploma in International Trade Policy from National University of Singapore, Postgraduate Certificate in Development Management from Royal Institute of Management and Bachelors of Science(Bio-Chemistry) from Sherubtse College, Delhi University.
