SECRETARIAT OF THE BAY OF BENGAL INITIATIVE FOR MULTI-SECTORAL TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION DHAKA, BANGLADESH

Applications are invited from eligible Bangladeshi nationals for the following positions at the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka, Bangladesh: 

 

1.    Coordination Assistant [GSS-II]:

 

  1. Number of Post:                                                                    01 

            General Services Staff (Category-II) 

 

Key Responsibility:

  1.  Assist in planning, organizing, and monitoring project activities and schedules.
  2. Coordinate communication between project team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
  3.  Maintain and update project documentation, files, and records accurately. Support in organizing meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
  4. Track project progress and report on key performance indicators and milestones. Assist in the preparation of progress reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
  5. Support procurement, logistics, and administrative tasks related to project activities.
  6. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  7. Provide logistical support for workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder engagement events including venue selection, catering arrangements and guest management.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned to support the successful implementation of projects.
  9. Perform any other duties, including Administration and Finance, assigned by the authority as and when necessary.

Qualification:

  1. 3+ years of experience in Coordination roles as well as Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  2. Analytical Ability of writing concept papers in the BIMSTEC areas of cooperation and Core Mechanism. 
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  4. Work in team with harmony.

Education: Minimum Bachelor/Masters Degree or equivalent in any discipline from public/ private (University Grants Commission approved) University of Bangladesh.

 

2.    Media Specialist [GSS-II]:

 

  1. Number of Post:                                                                    01

            General Services Staff (Category-II) 

 

Key Responsibility:

  1. Develop and implement media and communication strategies to enhance BIMSTEC’s visibility and outreach. Manage media relations, including drafting press releases, newsletter, articles, leaflets, journals, reports, brochures etc. Coordinating interviews, and maintaining contact with local, regional, and international media.
  2. Prepare newspaper articles/ interviews, preparing website contents and promotional videos/ documents as well as timely publishing/broadcasting of important news both in print and electronic media as and when necessary.
  3. Provide media support for BIMSTEC meetings, events, and workshops, ensuring proper coverage and documentation. Monitor media coverage related to BIMSTEC and Member States, and prepare regular media analysis reports.
  4. Coordinate with communication counterparts in Member States and partner organizations to ensure consistency of messaging. Support crisis communication efforts and manage urgent media responses as needed.
  5. Perform any other duties assigned by the authority as and when necessary. 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in media relations, journalism, public information, digital communications, or a similar role, preferably in an international, regional, or diplomatic organization. Expertise in editing content, audio/video, adove Photoshop.
  2. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse audiences. Proven experience in managing media outreach, drafting press releases, organizing press conferences, and maintaining media relations.
  3. Familiarity with regional cooperation processes and understanding of BIMSTEC’s objectives will be an advantage.
  4. Work in team with harmony.

Technical Skills:

  1. Knowledge of design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva) and basic video editing tools is desirable.
  2. Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) will add advantage.

Education: Minimum Bachelor/Masters Degree or equivalent in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, Media Studies, or a related field from public/ private (University Grants Commission approved) University of Bangladesh. 

 

3.         Experience: 

  1. Experience in working at International Organization/Diplomatic Mission will get preference. 

 

4.         Computer Literacy: Excellent knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel & PowerPoint 

 

5.         Age Limit: Below 35 years 

 

6.         Both males and females are allowed to apply 

 

7.         Remunerations: Remunerations will be provided under the GSS-II Basic Salary Scale (USD480-12X7-564-EB-14X11-718) and other admissible benefits according to the Financial Rules, Regulations and Provisions of the BIMSTEC Secretariat:

 

8.         Deadline for the Applications: 05 February 2026 

09.       Expected date for entry on duty: 15 March 2026

 

10.       Type of Appointment: 

i.    Contractual basis (contract renewable based on annual performance appraisal and the discretion of the Secretary General of BIMSTEC).

  1. Selected candidate will be on a mandatory probation for period of 01 Year starting from the date of their joining the Secretariat. 
  2. Selected candidate is required to continue working for the Secretariat for a minimum of three years.

11.       Duty Station: Dhaka, Bangladesh
