 Mr. Tun Lynn Aung joined the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka on 18 November 2021 as the second director from Myanmar. Before he joined the Secretariat, he served as Counsellor at International Organisations and Economic Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

He joined the Myanmar Foreign Service in 2006. He served as Deputy Director at ASEAN Affairs Department from 2018 to 2020, First Secretary/ Deputy Head of Mission at the Permanent Mission of Myanmar to ASEAN in Jakarta from 2015 to 2018 and Head of Branch at Protocol Department from 2010 to 2014.

While in ASEAN Affairs Department, he was assigned at the ASEAN Political-Security Division where he handles ASEAN Political-Security matters and as a Desk Officer for ASEAN-Canada Dialogue Relations. During his tenure in Jakarta, he also served as Country Coordinator for ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations.

He was part of the Myanmar delegations to several ASEAN meetings, including ASEAN summits, ASEAN ministerial meetings, ASEAN senior officials’ meetings and also part of high-level Myanmar delegations to China, Indonesia, Australia and Thailand.

He graduated with Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) specialized in Physics from Pyay University, Myanmar in 2004 and earned Master of Science (M.Sc) specialized in Development Policy from Hiroshima University, Japan in 2014.

Mr. Tun Lynn Aung is married and blessed with two children.
