Secretary General participated at the High-Level Policy Dialogue titled “Beyond Waste: Optimizing Food, Water, and Energy for Better Nutrition in South Asia” held from 17-19 June, 2025 in Colombo. He spoke at the Inaugural Session of High-Level Regional Policy Dialogue, underscoring its importance in spurring regional cooperation in advancing food and nutritional security. He highlighted the progress BIMSTEC has made in forging regional cooperation in sectors such as Agriculture & Food Security, Fisheries and Livestock, Blue Economy, Energy and Environment & Climate Change, which has been contributing to food, nutrition and energy security in Bay of Bengal region.

On the sidelines of the Dialogue, SG called on H.E. Professor Chrishantha Abeysena, Honourable Minister for Science and Technology of Sri Lanka. They discussed strengthening regional cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation Sector under BIMSTEC, including early operationalisation of BIMSTEC Technology Transfer Facility.

SG also called-on H.E. Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, Honourable Deputy Minister of Health of SriLanka in Colombo. They discussed further progress in regional health cooperation under BIMSTEC.
