The 2nd BIMSTEC Conference on Traditional Medicine Knowledge (TMK), Genetic Resources (GR), and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), was held virtually on 27 August 2025.

Organized by the Government of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the BIMSTEC Secretariat, the Conference highlighted the importance of safeguarding traditional knowledge, promoting research and innovation, and advancing collective strategies to protect and utilize genetic resources for sustainable development. It provided a platform for member States to share national experiences and exchange ideas on strengthening regional cooperation.

On the same day, the 1st Meeting of the BIMSTEC Nodal Group on TMK, GR, and IPR was also convened virtually. The Meeting discussed the Group's role and explored possible areas for collaboration among member States to protect traditional medicine knowledge, genetic resources, intellectual property rights.
