SECRETARIAT OF THE BAY OF BENGAL INITIATIVE FOR MULTI-SECTORAL TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION DHAKA, BANGLADESH

 

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from eligible Bangladeshi nationals for the following positions at the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka, Bangladesh:

 

1. Lead Specialist [GSS-II] :

  1. Number of Post: 01   

General Services Staff (Category-II) 

 

Key Responsibility:

 

  • Assist the Director of respective division in drafting necessary documents as and when necessary, 
  • Lead Specialist for external partnership of BIMSTEC requires to consult, coordinate and liaise extensively with regional and international organizations, including United Nations bodies;
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts with partner organizations to facilitate collaboration;
  • Maintain coordination of inter-divisional activities of BIMSTEC and ensure effective communication and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders; 
  • Draft notes verbal, concept notes, research and policy papers, project proposals, background papers, speech/ messages, data collection and analysis and preparing the outcome document;
  • Organize and support meetings and events involving external stakeholders
  • Prepare pre-meeting documents (agenda, program, background note, note by the Secretariat, concept note, information note, re-produce previous reports, proposals for way forwards etc.);
  • Participate in meetings/workshops/seminars as assigned;
  • Record meeting discussions, screening the necessary meeting documents;
  • Prepare post-meeting documents (meeting reports, annexes etc.);
  • Follow up of meeting decisions;
  • Work in team with harmony; and
    Perform any other duties assigned by the authority as and when necessary.
     

Other Qualification:

 

  • Proven experience in external relations, diplomacy, international organizations or similar roles;
  • Expertise in official communications in English; and
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
     

Education:   

Minimum Bachelor Degree or equivalent in relevant/any discipline from     public/private (University Grants Commission approved) University of Bangladesh.

 

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant field
  • Experience in working International Organization/Diplomatic Mission will get preference.

 

2. Computer Literacy: Excellent knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel & PowerPoint

 

3. Age Limit: Below 35 years

 

4. Both males and females can apply

 

5. Remunerations: Remunerations will be provided under the GSS-II Basic Salary Scale (USD480-12X7-564-EB-14X11-718) and other admissible benefits according to the Financial Rules, Regulations and Provisions of the BIMSTEC Secretariat.


 

6. Deadline for the Applications: 15 August 2026

 

7. Expected date for entry on duty: 15 September 2026

 

8. Type of Appointment:

i.    Contractual basis (contract renewable based on annual performance appraisal and the discretion of the BIMSTEC Secretary General)
ii.    Selected candidate will be on a mandatory probation for period of 01 Year starting from the date of their joining the Secretariat
iii.    Selected candidate is required to continue working for the Secretariat for a minimum of three years
 

9. Duty Station: Dhaka, Bangladesh
