The Secretary General of BIMSTEC H.E. Tenzin Lekphell participated in the Launch of "Global Food Policy Report 2023" organized by International Food Policy Research (IFPRI) Institute held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 19-20 June 2023.

On 19 June 2023, Secretary General delivered remarks at the Inaugural Session of the Launch of the Report. Secretary General urged international orgainsations to work with BIMSTEC to address mitigation, adaptation, and have long-term strategies and sustainable solutions in relation to food crisis. IFPRI is one of partners of BIMSTEC, and an MoU between two organizations was signed on 5 March 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh to establish cooperation to enhance food security, nutrition, agricultural productivity, and rural development and trade in the region as well as the sustainable and inclusive transformation of food systems.
