The First BIMSTEC Experts Group Meeting on Poverty Alleviation held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 01 November 2017 was attended by the delegations from all Member States.

The Experts Group reviewed the implementation status of the Poverty Plan of Actions (PPA) – 2012 and recommended to mainstream the PPA in the national plans and annual budgets of the respective Member States to enable them to eradicate the extreme poverty in all forms by 2030, which is the overall objective of the BIMSTEC-PPA.

The Experts Group also agreed to convene their meeting on annual basis to share and update the status of collective actions as outlined in the PPA and welcomed the offer of the delegation of India to host the next meeting in 2018.
