The 2nd Meeting of the BIMSTEC Working Group to finalize the Draft Text of the Agreement on Maritime Transport Cooperation makes substantial progress


The 2nd Meeting of the BIMSTEC Working Group to finalize the Draft Text of the Agreement on Maritime Transport Cooperation was held virtually in New Delhi, India on 30 August 2022 with the participation of representatives from all Member States. The Meeting chaired by Mr. Amitabh Kumar, Director General of Shipping and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India succeeded in making substantial progress towards the completion of negotiations on the Agreement.
 
The Agreement, when concluded, is expected to benefit Member States including through the strengthening and development of relations in merchant shipping and maritime transport, contributing to the growth of regional economic and commercial relations among all the BIMSTEC Member States.
