The Memorandum of Understanding for Establishment of the BIMSTEC Grid Interconnection was signed on 31 August 2018 during the Fourth BIMSTEC Summit held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The MOU provides for the establishment of the BIMSTEC Grid Interconnection Coordination Committee (BGICC) to coordinate in implementation of the MOU.
The BGICC is now working with finalization of the BIMSTEC Grid Interconnection Master Plan Study, BIMSTEC Policy for Transmission of Electricity and BIMSTEC Policy for Trade, Exchange of Electricity and Tariff Mechanism.
