The First Meeting of the BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs held in New Delhi, India on 21 March 2017 noted with concern the emerging trends in cyber space which encourage online radicalization, cybercrime and threat to the critical information sectors of the economy. The Meeting decided to deepen cooperation among the respective cyber institutions to strengthen cyber security.
The First Meeting of the BIMSTEC Expert Group on Cyber Security Cooperation held in New Delhi, India on 14-15 July 2022 discussed and updated draft “Five Year Action Plan for BIMSTEC Cyber Security Cooperation” agreed to set up the BIMSTEC CERT-to-CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) cooperation mechanism and to create a BIMSTEC Cyber Crime Cooperation Framework among the Law Enforcement Agencies.
