Sub-Group on the Cooperation on Countering Radicalization and Terrorism

India is the Lead Shepherd of the Sub-Group
The BIMSTEC Leaders during their informal Retreat held in Goa, India on 16 October 2016 adopted 16 points agenda of action including the Cooperation on Countering Radicalization and Terrorism. The First Meeting of the BIMSTEC Sub-Group on the Cooperation on Countering Radicalization and Terrorism (SG-CCRT) held in New Delhi, India on 11 June 2019 discussed its ToR including function and mandate. The Second Meeting of the BIMSTEC Sub-Group on the Cooperation on Countering Radicalization and Terrorism held virtually in New Delhi, India on 02 December 2021 finalized the Concept Note on the Cooperation on Countering Radicalization and Terrorism among the BIMSTEC Member States and its ToR.  To implement the BIMSTEC Convention on Cooperation in Combating International Terrorism, Transnational Organized Crime and Illicit Drug Trafficking signed on 11 December 2009, Member States shared their respective Nodal Agencies along with contact details of the focal points in the Agencies with a view to providing the other Member States the widest possible measure of mutual assistance in the prevention, investigation, prosecution and suppression of international terrorism, transnational organized crime and illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances including their precursor chemicals.
